Summary
Have you ever experienced trying to explain what you do for a living? Do your family and friends look puzzled when you say you are an association management professional or provide services to the association management community? In this fast paced and interactive experience you will explore the important and varied functions of associations, understand key terms and language; expand your peer network; virtually connect with seasoned industry professionals; and explore the unique nature of volunteer-based organizations. Association management professionals and business partners attending this session will:
  • Explore different association structures, scope and purpose;
  • Discuss the dynamic nature between volunteers and professional staff;
  • Discover the "Cliff Notes" version of Association History;
  • Identify common duties and basic legal responsibilities for Boards; and
  • Investigate core activities/functions generally found in most association operations
As part of The Essential Elements of Association Management, this session along with the others in the series will provide a baseline for new professionals in the association industry.
